Sharilyn's Place

our life … blog style

It’s amazing what a little sunshine can do for the soul.

Today, we went to the park for the first time since last fall, and it was glorious. We had a very mild winter this year, but even so, being cooped up in the house or bundled up in coats and mittens isn’t my definition of fun. Ben’s coat this year wasn’t all that thick or padded, but he still could hardly put his arms to his side.

Is anyone else picturing the famous coat scene from A Christmas Story, or is it just me?

So after breakfast was eaten, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse was watched, clothes were put on, and the car keys were located, we were finally off!

First stop was the swings.

Ben used to hate the swings. So glad he’s friends with them now!

Next was this fun little contraption.

Next on the list? The big twirly slide, of course.

After this, we decided to venture across the bridge to the other slide that was awaiting us.

Caught him in the middle of saying, “Ready, Set, GO!”

LOVE that dimple.

And of course, what mom has not had to tell her child to not climb back UP the slide?

Whew! Playing is some hard work! Time for a 23 second break.

Next, we decided to venture to the big field next to the playground. There were some pretty cool things over here!

We saw a tank (Ben is telling me the colors).

We saw a cool plane.

We found this monument.

There was a windmill that Ben was pretty interested in. It was really windy (a given in Oklahoma) so it was spinning around like crazy. It was also really squeaky. Thinking someone needs to climb up there with some WD-40 (not it).

As we were heading back towards the playground, we came across a horse carved in a big rock right by a tree. We nearly walked right by it! Ben thought this was a very impressive discovery.

We even saw some trash! Anyone who knows my son knows that he will find any trash there is to find.

I love this picture of Ben. I’m pretty certain there isn’t a better hair color in the entire world.

Yep. Spending time in the sunshine with my own little Sunshine makes for a pretty great Monday.

Very cute! We’re having a mild winter too but not quite mild enough to hit the park yet. We are still in puffy coats and hats, in the mornings for sure. Max is ready for the park, every time we drive past one he says “I wanna do playground!”
